Ms. Casteix is the firm’s managing partner who practices primarily in the areas of real estate, business transactions, probate and estate administration (successions), and wills and estate planning.
After graduating from the University of New Orleans, she attended Loyola University School of Law. She received her J.D. in 1977 and then served as a law clerk for the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans. In 1980 she became a partner in the firm of Cleveland, Barrios, Kingsdorf & Casteix where she remained a partner until she became a co-founding partner in 1995 of Barrios, Kingsdorf & Casteix.
Ms. Casteix has counseled clients in a variety of business and real estate transactions, including business sales, mergers and acquisitions, real estate development, condominium conversions, commercial leases for shopping centers and office buildings, and commercial and residential acquisitions and financings. She has served as special counsel to a family-owned corporate client in its initial and subsequent public stock offerings. Her diverse closing experience includes real estate secured bank loans and credit lines, interim construction and permanent loans to real estate developers, SBA guaranteed business loans, and residential and commercial mortgage loans. In her estate planning and administration practice, Ms. Casteix has handled multi-million dollar estates and established charitable foundations. She has served on the board of directors of a public company and currently serves on the board of several private charitable foundations.
Ms. Casteix is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and an agent for First American Title Insurance Company. She has an AV rating, the highest peer review rating available through Martindale-Hubbell, and has been named by New Orleans Magazine as a Top Lawyer in the New Orleans area for 2009.
