Practice Areas
Barrios, Kingsdorf & Casteix is a firm with a general civil practice in all State and Federal Courts. Our work generally falls into one of two categories, either litigation or transactions.
Litigation. We represent people in court; it’s at the heart of what we do. And we live by a simple mantra: a good litigator can litigate any type of case. As evidence of that, we successfully represent people and businesses in a variety of different contexts, from serious personal injury cases, to defective product cases, to breach of contract cases. We represent them in state court and in federal court. We represent them individually, and we also represent people in the mass tort/class action setting, where scores of people have been harmed by the same dangerous product, device, or negligent act. No matter the type of lawsuit, or what court the case is in, we bring the same smart, efficient, and effective representation to the table to get the best result we can for our clients.
When a client brings us on board to represent them in litigation, it can be a stressful and trying situation. What we believe sets us apart — in addition to our skills in the courtroom — is our role as counselors and our client service. Many other lawyers, for better or worse, lavish attention on clients until they get hired, and then pass them off to a secretary or paralegal. We simply don’t do that. We wholeheartedly believe that the better we know our clients and the more we talk with them, the better they understand their legal situation and rights. Our over 100 years of combined legal experience has shown that this makes our clients feel more at ease. That’s why clients come back to us. That’s why clients recommend us to friends, neighbors or business associates who need advice.
If there’s one thing litigators love, it’s a good list. Here’s a list of the areas of litigation in which we work:
- Class Actions,
- Complex Litigation,
- Commercial & Business Litigation,
- Mass Torts,
- Oil and Gas Law,
- Products Liability Litigation,
- Professional (Legal or Medical) Malpractice,
- Serious Personal Injury, and
- Breach of Contract Cases
Transactions. Unlike on television, lawyers don’t only work in a courtroom. We also do transactional work, helping individuals and businesses accomplish their goals, whether it be forming a new company, buying, selling, or leasing real estate, creating a will and planning an estate, or more complex business transactions. We bring the same attention to detail, creativity, and efficiency to our transactional practice that we bring to our litigation work, along with the same focus on client satisfaction and client service.
Our transactional lawyers like lists, too. So, here’s a list of some of the transactional work our lawyers perform:
- General Business Transactions and Advice,
- Commercial & Residential Closings,
- Formation of Corporations, Partnerships & LLCs,
- Probate and Estate Administration,
- Real Estate Transactions & Development,
- Title Insurance, and
- Wills & Estate Planning
We work hard to solve the problems that our clients bring to us. However, hubris won’t be our downfall; we realize that there are times when our clients are better served working with a lawyer that specializes in a particular area of the law. In those situations, we are happy to help you find a lawyer to work with. We’ll draw on our professional network when necessary to make sure you get the best representation possible.
Think that this was written by a marketing consultant? It wasn’t. One of our lawyers wrote it. If you don’t believe something here is true, Contact us and we’ll prove you wrong.
